The marriage between Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen ended in divorce. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his supermodel wife announced their divorce just days ago, ending their 13-year marriage.

Both announced their own Instagram stories. A portion of Bündchen’s statement reads, “We parted ways peacefully, with tremendous thanks for our time together.”

She goes on to say, “Our children, whom I adore with all my heart, have always been, and will always be, my priority.” We are committed to continuing our co-parenting arrangement so that we may provide the best possible care for our children.

After explaining that they had just grown apart, Bündchen said, “While it is of course terrible to go through something like this, I feel thankful for the time we had together and only hope the best for Tom always.”

Separately, Brady shares an Instagram story in which he repeats Bündchen’s sentiments of thanks for their time together and appreciation for how amicably they parted ways.

The children “are a blessing from God and will remain the light and joy of our lives,” he says. As parents, we’ll stick together to provide our kids with the care they need and deserve.

He continues, “after great contemplation, we have decided to end our marriage.” He said that although the separation was “sad and challenging,” they were hoping for the best for one other “as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are still to be written.”

Reports of marital problems surfaced about the same time Brady came out of retirement to play for the Bucs this season.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion first declared his retirement from the NFL in February, only to announce his return the following month.

While announcing his retirement on social media, Brady remarked, “it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that deserve my attention,” presumably referring to his desire to spend more time with his children and Bündchen.

After coming out of retirement again, Brady spoke of “unfinished business” on social media. “After much thought, I’ve concluded that the stands are not where my place is. This will eventually happen. But not at this time,” he said. “I’m grateful for the loving support of my family and the wonderful friends I’ve made via the team. They’re crucial to the whole thing being feasible. This will be my 23rd year playing in Tampa.”
