David Harbour will reach a major new benchmark next year. The Netflix spooky thriller Stranger Things launched his career and earned him a nomination for an Emmy. The actor’s success from the show propelled him to international stardom and a starring part in the MCU film adaptation of the Marvel comic book character Black Widow. The actor recently took on the character of Red Guardian in the shared universe and will be reprising the part in the next film Thunderbolts.

It turns out he will be working on both projects at once next year. The actor told Collider that he is now filming Stranger Things 5 and Thunderbolts at the same time. He adds his staff is working on a regular framework for him in the meantime, but because both movies are filming in Atlanta, he may have some wiggle room in how he divides his time.

“It’s going to have to be a back-and-forth with me. They’re going to have to sort of share me. And so it is kind of like, I don’t know exactly how they’re working it, but it’s a week on, week off, two weeks on, two weeks off, something like that where I would go back and forth. They both are being shot in Atlanta. That may have also been structured in a certain way, but yes, it is helpful. So I can just literally shoot a scene in Stranger Things and get in my car and run over to the Marvel scene to shoot a scene there maybe.”

At this year’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feige unveiled the whole team-up for Thunderbolts, featuring David Harbour’s Captain America: Civil War, Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Floriana Pugh), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). Harbour, on the other hand, is expected to feel a wide spectrum of emotions during the season five finale of Stranger Things.

As a result, they couldn’t be more different in scope. One will be saddened by the departure of his beloved character from the screen, while the other will find himself thrust into the spotlight of a big series. Ideally, he’ll be at his best in both of these parts.
