Daniel Radcliffe Teasingly Encourages Wolverine Casting Rumors

After a certain number of Wolverine-related questions, Daniel Radcliffe has decided to have some fun with his answers. Wolverine is a beloved member of the X-Men, and ever since it was announced that the mutants will be reinvented for the MCU, fans have been guessing at who would fill the role.

Hugh Jackman has been the most recognizable portrayer of the gruff mutant for the last two decades, and he is set to reprise the character in the forthcoming Deadpool 3; however, the part will probably be replaced when the new X-Men are introduced.

Several times, it was speculated that Radcliffe, a former Harry Potter actor, might play the part. In a recent interview with GQ, Radcliffe reveals that he has often contributed to such rumors himself, but not always to promote himself for the role. Radcliffe claims that he has had no contact with Marvel Studios, but that he teased something about the casting since he gets tired of answering the same question over and over again. In light of this, Radcliffe urges him to avoid talking about it in interviews.

“It’s just a story going around from the press tour, I say something, and then every once in a while I get tired of replying that way and say something else, and that starts the whole thing over again. Maybe I should stop talking altogether.”

Radcliffe could be interested in a character like Wolverine. The actor enjoys stepping into the shoes of eccentric characters, as seen by his role as “Weird Al” Yankovic in the Roku film WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story and other odd parts he’s portrayed in independent films since his Harry Potter days. The only problem is that he’s hesitant to take on any long-term roles, and Wolverine could potentially tie him to the series for a long time. In an interview with GQ, Radcliffe says:

“What I mean is, I don’t want to commit to something forever if I’m not confident I’ll continue to have the same level of passion for it.

Wolverine’s fate in the MCU is yet to be decided, but fans won’t have to wait long to see Radcliffe in another leading role. Radcliffe may be seen in his most outlandish role yet in the upcoming Roku release of WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story. On November 4, 2022, it will be available for streaming on The Roku Channel.
