In support of the transgender community, Radcliffe published an open letter to counter the views of J.K.Rowling. “Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I,” stated Radcliffe in his letter.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Radcliffe explained why he felt important to speak on the ongoing controversy in public against Rowling.
“The reason I felt very, very much as though I needed to say something when I did was that, particularly since finishing ‘Potter,’ I’ve met so many queer and trans kids and young people who had a huge amount of identification with Potter on that,” said the Harry Potter star. And so seeing them hurt on that day I was like, I wanted them to know that not everybody in the franchise felt that way. And that was really important.”
Daniel Radcliffe published his letter on Trevor Radcliffe’s website which is a nonprofit organization that is striving hard to prevent suicides in the LGBTQ community.
Adding about the Nonprofit organization, Radcliffe added “It was really important as I’ve worked with the Trevor Project for more than 10 years, and so I don’t think I would’ve been able to look myself in the mirror had I not said anything,”
A serious backlash was recorded in June 2020, when the novel series author argued on Twitter in a series of comments that discussing gender identity negates biological sex.
Radcliffe tweeted, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction.” She added, “If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives.”
On the other hand, many actors from Harry Potter also came forward against the views of J.K.Rowling after the open letter by Daniel Radcliffe. While, Tom Felton, who appeared as Draco Malfoy in the film series, decided to distance his franchise after a long-running partnership with Rowling.
