Portugal Captain Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United with immediate effect after a mutual agreement between the star footballer and the club.
The club reported, Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, has agreed to leave Manchester United based on the mutual termination of his contract, which resulted after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
The statement issued by the club stated: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect. The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.”
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
In a simultaneous statement on Tuesday, Ronaldo said that he loved the club and its fans, but it was “time for a new challenge.”
I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge. I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”
Ronaldo rejoined Manchester United from Juventus in 2021, but his stay at the club remained very short. The 37-year-old forward will be free to join any other club immediately without having to wait for the transfer window to open in January.
